Seeking Work From Home Now

March 29th, 2012

There are ideas of many companies that try to claim their attention to the work of being a house niche. Unfortunately, not everyone is a good idea. In fact, many of them are simply scams designed to suck all your money away from you. So how can you find legitimate work from home business opportunity? Well, let’s look at some areas you should focus on.
Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to make a business of your own and running with minimal cost. You do not need to join a business opportunity to earn money on the Internet itself.
At this point you may be thinking, “but has no product to sell. How do I start? Always good to ask a question like that, and selling products that give good information is a great way to make money online legitimately.

What makes this a good way to make money is that the right information is always in demand and people pay good money for that if they see it as offering great value for them. You may well have already bought some product information, whether online or offline.

For example, a subject that has been in demand in recent years is “how to” books and pamphlets. You may have seen books such as “how to finish the basement,” “how to install a platform,” “how to change a flat tire,” “how to start a home business,” and so on.
The Internet makes it very easy to sell information products if you answer questions and solve problems. The trick is knowing what kind of problems people need to solve, and then the products available for sale at their disposal.
You can do this either by creating their own information products and selling online, or you can join affiliate programs like Clickbank. You can access thousands of good products by other people to join the affiliate program Clickbank.
For example, if you sign up with Clickbank, you can start websites to sell their products using your affiliate ID number. If you prefer, do not even have to create your own website, and you can use what is provided for this specific product.
This is a very legitimate work from home business opportunity, because you never run out of products for sale. In addition, you now have the ability to generate an income over their full-time courses, provided they acquire the skills you go.
In short, create your own product and sell online is a way of working from home. Click Next to the Bank as an affiliate is free to do and this is another great legitimate work from home business opportunity.

Do not let Fat Kill you, Dawn French and I have not!

February 7th, 2012

We are in a recession and yet we still have the numbers of obese people rising by the day. Dawn French is featured in Woman Magazine this week.

I also featured in Woman magazine on the 20th of January 2003 when I lost over 15 & ½ stone in weight, double what Dawn French has done so far. Soon I have no doubt that Dawn French will produce a book telling us all how she did it? My book is out there and you can get it for a pittance £1.92 on Kindle instant download if you would like to know how I did it, here is the link Weight Off by Linda Corby.

This is my original before photograph and after plus what I look like now .
As you can see I have not gone back to Mrs Blobby, unlike Dawn French I do not miss the fat one ounce. I am sure if I had not lost the weight I would not be here to tell you how I did so. I am glad Dawn lost the weight, she is a very talented woman and I enjoy the work she has done immensely, as a writer I know how hard it can be, sitting on your arse can make it spread, laughing.
I am so happy to still be here today, to have had all the extra years to watch my youngest daughter April grown up into a beautiful young woman and also my best friend, and when we walk our little Border Collie Foxie together, come rain or shine I thank God I did not let fat kill me.
Please if you are reading this, do not let fat kill you, grab my book and follow my lead, I wish you and yours many happy extra years of life

Jersey’s Lack of Freedom of information

September 23rd, 2011

I am very strong believer of freedom of speech and choice.
I read an article that people might find of interest at
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1579981/Why-documents-in-Jersey-remain-secret.html

Below is a copy of the email I sent to the journalist who wrote the article that is self explanatory.

Dear Gordon Rayner, gordon.rayner@telegraph.co.uk

I read the article ‘Why documents in Jersey remain
secret’ in the newspaper this morning and feel compelled to furnish you with my personal views on Freedom of information or rather the lack there of in Jersey.

I declare am standing for senator in the upcoming 2011 elections on the 19th of October. My Manifesto and other
information can be read on-line at http://jerseyrights.com

The freedom of information laws in Jersey should not be in my opinion cherry picked and they should be fit for purpose.

I am very much in favour of freedom of information and it is 100% wrong that there is no provision under the Code for people to apply for information held by the police, hospitals, or any other public service.
Information should not be conveniently limited government committee agendas and minutes should be disclosed, any documents supporting an agenda item should also to begiven out and files or documents should to be made public.

It is fair and proper that the scope of freedom of information should to be widened and if I was lucky enough to be elected I would personally back proposals for this.

It might be an idea for you to ask the other candidates standing for
election for their views on this subject, to be fair to all, and I feel it would make interesting reading not just for those who can vote in Jersey but for the public in general.

An interesting snippet for you; my husbands name is Brian Corby and his namesake/historic relative was the person who shot Harold threw the eye in 1066.

Regards
Linda Corby

I included the email addresses for the candidates standing for senator with this email to be fair to all standing.

You might like to ask this question to anyone standing for election full stop or send your comments/letters to the Telegraph as I fear that such might not be published in the island for obvious reasons?
Cover ups are inevitable in my opinion until real freedom of information is available to all.

Read:

Testing out Income Hybrid Software. By Linda Corby

August 30th, 2011

I am now testing out this software, I needed t o produce my own fan page as according to everything I read on the net if one has products of any kind for sale one must have a fan page on facebook.

With this in mind I have purchased this Income Hybrid software and have started to produce a fan page here if you’d like to take a quick look. If you join my page you can watch how it goes if you want, I am no tec wiz, and it will be interesting to see if this software lives up to its expectations, or rather the expectations of its buyers?

You might like to take a look at Income Hybrid Software for yourself.

I have put a bit of code generated using the software below, but I will not know if it works on here until I publish?

If not I will have to do a bit of tweaking with it later, when I come back to update the post.

Why Part With Your Pet Pony When There Is a Better Way.

August 23rd, 2011

Everyone knows that in this time of

recession it is the things we most

love

to do that become too expensive,

and

in order to continue doing them we

have to find a way to make money.

As an equestrian person I remember how hard it was for me to keep my favourite pony, I loved Jewel my childhood pet and did every job going in order to support her through her old age, and she is now buried in my field, no ******* was going to have her hooves for glue, and I know that right now there are many of you out there unable to find enough work to support your pets whatever they might be.

I am an animal lover and I feel I just have to do something to help those of you out there on the verge of loosing your pets, because I know it is almost like loosing a child and I have lost both over the years and know how desperately heat breaking and soul destroying it is to do so.

Now with so many scams out there it is hard to see the wood from the trees, when it seems everyone and their mother is out to get your hard earned cash, and you will find that most things that look to good to be true actually are, but by the time a lot of people find this out they have already purchased some scam product that doesn’t do what it claims to, gross but true, I know I have been there and done that myself, not anymore though.

Having said that I have found some good products that I bought that where good value for money, sometimes just by the knowledge I have gain from them.

If you want to make a second income online or for whatever reason need to make some money fast there really is in reality two ways for you to do so, you have to become an entrepreneur and produce your own product to sell online or work as an affiliate selling someone else’s product.

As I am a third generation entrepreneur I can tell you how to become an entrepreneur, in fact I have produced a book that does just that, not a how to book, but one that you could use a such if you so desired, but I am not here to sell my book, just to tell you your options.

Please do not go rushing out and sell the all to often scam products, over hyped stuff that does not deliver on its promises, you probably know how it feels to buy one of these, and I do not hold with this sort of thing, if you are going to go down the road of affiliating to a product please do make sure that it is a product that does what it says on the box and is good value for money.

It is time that people weeded out all the scams on the internet and made sure others know about them, together we can do this, and while doing so let others know which products are worth getting that can help others from loosing their hard earned cash, while doing so you and I can make the extra money we need to save and keep our beloved pets!

Zoom into Profit

Vote in the upcoming Jersey election if you have had enough of just following whatever the UK government does.

August 12th, 2011

If you do not vote for the right person/people you are going to get more of the same old austerity cuts in Jersey that we have seen recently introduced by our Jersey Government.

Austerity cuts simply means cuts on the poor and middle earners of out society, cuts on the services that matter to you, you’re family, and our community in General and if you vote the same old way for the same old politicians austerity cuts are what you are going to get.

If you do not know what austerity cuts equal I will tell you they equal the slashing of public expenditure and the pain of austerity cuts cause social discord among those at the bottom to middle end of our society, austerity politics do equal cuts to welfare and social programs and it is the poor who suffer and not those at the top of the ladder as this policy in reality puts an unequal burden on the poor and middle class.

The very wealthy can afford alternatives to governmental assistance and thus do not feel the weight of economic austerity policies, whereas tax increases hurt those at the top while sparing those at the bottom, provided the tax is progressive.

Austerity policies are known to enslave any working class population. You would think our elected-officials should put the people’s interest first, but remember Jersey is an off-shore tax haven so are elected government really going to even attempt to stop allowing for tax fraud and income sheltering from occurring, as our wealthiest individuals and businesses hide trillions of pounds in our offshore accounts. Who do you think the current Jersey Government majority are going to protect the wealthy (a percentage of which do not even live in the island) or the general public of the island, you tell me?

We the Jersey voters are allowing these austerity policies to happen when we vote for-profit politicians representing big business and not the average working class citizen just trying to make a better way for themselves, their families and their communities.

If you do not think I know what I am talking about then please take into account that I am a Jersey Tax exiles daughter, a third generation entrepreneur, married to a local Jerseyman who has lived in the island since the mid 1960’s. Brought up as a conservative but who believes in freedom of choice, speech and fair play across the board. I have lived in all walks of life and have empathy for the problems faced in all of them. I have no desire to rip off anyone in any walk of life that are living in the island and made it their home. I follow no specific political party as there are good and bad points to all of them, I am totally an independent that happens to be a people person, I believe in doing what is right for the people of the island in general and not any one specific part thereof, end of.

People have asked me to stand for election in the upcoming elections and I am hovering on the fence, having stood for election in the 1990’s in St Peters Parish, that is and was a predominantly engraved conservative population.  I know that if the men/women and youths of the island do not bother to vote I would be wasting my time, the extremely wealthy will always go out to vote in order to keep as much of their wealth as possible, if people want me to stand they will have to ask me to do so in St Peters Parish with enough numbers to at least give me the hope of a good chance of being elected, if not there is no point in my wasting my time, it is as simple as that, so contact me if you live in St Peters Parish Jersey and let me know either way.  I am anti austerity policies but in the same token I am not anti wealth for the island.

However, if I stand for election or not is irrelevant, what is relevant is that people do go out and vote, the people of the island will get the government they deserve, they will get what they vote for, and if they do not vote they do not have the right to complain about what they get as a result of not voting.

If you want to get rid of things like GST on essential items such as food then you will vote for me if I stand or people like me. If you want to see cuts on stupid things stopped the same thing applies. Vote for people who care about you, who actually do love the island, people with a strong moral backbone who have real ethics, do go to the Hustings and ask the hard questions, make sure you know the real motivations behind their standing for election and if it is just to safeguard their own interests be sure not to vote for them, all candidates should be made to disclose all their own holdings and financial interests, including those of their family and business partners, only then will we have the full picture on who is worth voting for!

I can declare my interests right here and now.  I am not extremely wealthy and do not have shares in anything that would effect my judgement on any States decision in the house, my vote would go to what is right for the island and its people, to protect the quality of life in the island for all living here.

I married a Jerseyman for love, I had and do have more morals than to do otherwise, and I am not corruptible as corruption disgusts me.

I spent the last year writing a book to help others called ‘Zoom into Profit’ which is not a how to book but a book based on three generation of entrepreneurs in my family, as well as all the ones I have known or been associated with over years from a child upwards, and I am now a 58 year old granny, at the back of the book I show people what I did to produce this book from scratch to publication, the details I give could be applied to almost any product that could be produced.

I honestly believe that knowledge is the key to power and wealth, and I did not see anyone else telling the man/woman or youth this information in an easy to understand or follow manner and this is what I have done my best to do in ‘Zoom into Profit’ .

We all have knowledge of things that could be useful to help educate others, and I feel that we should all do our best to do so, irrespective of age people need knowledge to succeed in their future.  I spoke to a Lady called Janet at Careers Jersey and it was her idea that I should write this book after she had looked at my rather extensive CV.   Apparently I was too well qualified for some jobs, too disabled for others, and on top of that too old for many, “great I thought” and I know I am not alone in this boat, but what I can do is write, what I do have is extensive life experience, a business background and the ability to pass on my knowledge to others who need it via my book.

I know how to make money, but money has never been a driving force for me because I am a humanitarian at heart and live with my heart on my sleeve, I am not a liar believing that honesty is the best policy, I am not good at being evasive with the truth as it is in my nature to give a straight answer to a straight question, and when I do not know the answer I say so and investigate/research the subjects facts to come up with the answer in a straightforward manner without any hidden agendas.

I do not believe in the backhander way of securing contracts or anything else that one might consider underhanded. I can converse and debate with anyone from any walk of life on any subject I have researched and am knowledgeable on, without making one sided decisions in any direction without the full facts from all sides or angles, and without bias or undue rudeness to anyone irrespective of their opinions, everyone is entitled to their views and opinions  and no one is every 100% right all the time, talking all opinions into account and giving them an equal slice of fair play is essential when trying to solve any problem or make any informed decision.

I could debate any topic with any of the present politicians in Jersey irrespective on their stance on whatever the topic/subject might be, without resorting to fisty cuffs physically or verbally.  I do firmly believe in justice for all, and I do mean all, I do not care if you are broke or have trillions, everyone has the right to their say and I truly believe in the freedom of choice and speech, and I do believe anyone considering standing for election in the island should do so on the grounds of representing the people who vote them into power no matter what walk of life they come from.

Right now the majority of people believe that their governments are spending too much, imposing taxes that are too high and not making cut backs in the right places. If you believe this is true then you need to vote in order for anything to change for the better.

There is a debate ragging on the actual causes of the recent UK riots, some believe they are caused by the UK government’s austerity cuts, others put them down to simple street gang members and opportunistic looters going wild.  I actually believe that they are cause by mixture of the two things and that they are inextricably entangled.

However, the result is probably going to be a crackdown on personal freedom on the internet for those using social media and messaging.

Click here to read today’s report in The Times’ Cameron blames gangs not austerity cuts.

Do you think Cameron is right or not, or do you feel this is just an excuse to stop the use of social media for the many (majority) who protest legitimately without rioting using social media, remember, this crackdown will affect the many and not just the rioters.

Corruption in Jersey Channel Islands is Rife.

June 30th, 2011

Corruption in Jersey Channel islands is rife and too many of the islanders turn a blind eye to it, either out of fear of repercussions, stupidity or naivety. Possibly some might be using ‘The Jersey Way’ themselves and would have too much to loose by speaking out against it or fear the repercussions if they did so.

None of the contents of Lenny Harpers affidavit published on Stuart Syvret’s blog are any surprise to me personally, especially the sections 35 to 63 regarding Roy Boschat Recovery Service in respect of corrupt activities surrounding towing services.

Due to the fact that my husband and I ran a 24hour Recovery service (B Corby Recovery Service) and are in full knowledge of the fact that this criminal activity was going on from the 1980’s through to 1997 when we sold our business, we could give testimony to this if required to do so.

My husband was party to meetings at the States of Jersey Police Headquarters with other recovery services in relation to this corruption, and the loss of business it was causing us through it, and the corruption was confirmed at that time in the Police records that my husband and others saw. Many decent Police Officers also confirmed this to me personally.

During a period of time in the 1990’s a Police Constable on one particular week stopped me eight times in my car and threatened to have me prosecuted for Drunk Driving, I do not drink and drive, anyone can check me anytime I am driving, I would not get behind the wheel after having one drink, full stop.  I had to inform this Constable that if he persisted in harassing me in this way I would put a complaint into police headquarters about his harassment, in fact I did just that verbally as did my husband and he then stopped stopping me but persisted in regularly following my car for miles on end for several months after. To what purpose he did this is beyond me, fortunately I am not a person that is easily intimidated and eventually he gave up doing so.

It was well known on the grapevine amongst the Recovery Services that a Po;ice Constable was on the look out to get a driving conviction against anyone working for the breakdown services in competition with Roy Boschat’s service, maybe he though a woman would be easy pickings, as the only woman breakdown truck driver in the island any conviction against me would probably have been higher profile for the media than a man, who knows?

When a lot of this came to light in the JEP I spoke to someone extremely close to Roy Boschat and they quite openly told me that it was all true, the freebie holidays in Boschat’s Spanish Villa, the vehicle number plate and registrations scam, and when I told them that this was in fact bribery and corruption, all they said was it was OK because it was ‘The Jersey Way’ and that Roy had so many friends in high places that it would never reach a court of law anyway. So far this has proved to be correct, so much for Justice in jersey.

As everyone knows I have been fighting to get a small dwelling on my land in St Peters Parish for many years now, so when I saw Roy Boschat getting permission for a property on the sea front behind his property right next to a Martello tower I was disgusted to say the least, especially knowing that Boschat did the tow ins for the Planning Department, and knew his was good friends out of his own mouth with a certain high up Planning Department Official. Go Figure.

Corruption might well be rife in the world, but Jersey has more than its fair share of it! What can or will be done about it remains to be seen, nothing probably, and this is why so many people simple keep their mouths shut, because there are real repercussions for anyone like me who is straight and honest about what really goes on in the island.

Many people have actually told me on numerous occasions that I should keep quiet and mind my own business as I would get further if I did so. They are probably right but I am who and what I am and I cannot be any other way it just simply is not in my nature.

My Husbands Grandfather told me that just after the war one of his daughters who was in her early teens on her way home from school, was rapped by the son of a Centenier in St Saviour’s Parish, he was told by the Connétable of the Parish at the time that if he made a fuss he would have him sectioned, he had three young daughter to bring up, his wife had died marching between of war camps in France. There was nothing he could do! My husbands Auntie told me this herself as did my husbands mother. Does not look like much has changed in the island, disgusting but true, the way the abused children of the island have and are being treated is in my opinion just plain inhuman and totally unjust.

Will the English Government step up and sort this mess out, not in my opinion, let us face it how many of them do you think have financial considerations in the island?

Below is the relevant extract of Lenny Harpers Affidavit.

Affidavit of Lenny Harper,

Former Deputy Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police Force.

35.                        The first intelligence in respect of this came from a member of the Fire Brigade Staff who told police that two police officers were in a corrupt relationship with Roy Boschat, a local towing contractor.

36.                        On 30th March 2005, Edward Pippon of No 1 Recovery Company told Professional Standards that two police officers were getting petrol free of charge or cheaply from Boschat. He identified one of them as (I have edited the name out you will have to go to Stuart Syvrets blog to see it. ).  He alleged that this was in return for corrupt manipulation of the breakdown call out rota system.

37.                        The enquiry was stepped up a day later –on 31 March 2005 when information was received from two local members of the public, one of them a member of the legal profession, and another who worked for one of the other Vehicle Recovery Companies.  The former alleged to Professional Standards that she had seen Constable Sean Osmand drawing diesel for his vehicle from the petrol pumps at Roy Boschat’s place of business.  She was aware that Boschat was one of the Towing contractors who provided a service to the police, and that he was not licensed to sell diesel.  The witness was suspicious of the fact that a police officer was obtaining fuel for his private vehicle from Boschat’s pumps.

38.                        The second witness supplied information to the effect that calls from the police which should have gone to the other recovery firms were in fact going to Boschat.

39.                        On 31 March, police spoke to another witness called LE Claire, who had been at an accident where a driver wanted to call another breakdown firm, but the police officers had tried to insist on Boschat being called.  He told police that he knew of other people who had been told by police officers that they used Roy Boschat even when they didn’t have to.

40.                        A check was made of the record of call outs and it was found that whereas there were three main operators looking for police business, Boschat was at times, getting nearly 90% of that business.  An instruction was made that the rota should be adhered to and each of the three contractors called out in turn.

41.                        In October 2005, allegations were received from the two other main contractors on the island that they were being unfairly disadvantaged by virtue of the fact that they were getting little business from the States of Jersey Police.  They again alleged that this was due to a corrupt relationship between two police officers and Mr Boschat.  They again named one of the two police officers as Constable Sean Osmand.  They alleged that the officers received cheap or free diesel for their private vehicles, were given the use of four digit number plates, and that both officers had been to Boschat’s villa in Spain free of charge.

42.                        The investigation was recommenced, and the records of who police called out in respect of breakdowns were checked once more.  It was found that despite the previous warning, Boschat still received over 90% of the call outs.  An instruction was issued ordering officers to adhere to the strict rotation policy which was in place.  A covert investigation was launched but was curtailed shortly afterwards when the member of the public referred to in para. 2, fell out with her employer and went to work for Roy Boschat.  Shortly after that, police were told by her ex-employer, Edward Pippon of No. 1 Recovery, that she had warned Boschat the police were looking at him and his police friends.

43.                        In November 2005, a further complaint was received from the two contractors stating that they were being driven out of business by virtue of the fact that Boschat was still getting almost all of the calls.  Police records confirmed this, and investigations revealed that the system was being manipulated by some officers going to accidents and breakdowns and calling Boschat on their private mobile phones.  They were then falsely entering on official records that the member of the public had called Boschat themselves.  The most regular offender was Constable Sean Osmand.

44.                        Enquiries continued, and it became clear that Boschat was friendly with a number of police officers.  Information was also received that many officers had received free services from him in clear breach of integrity guidelines and policies.  These services included free holidays at his villa in Spain, the towing of vehicles, and on a couple of occasions, the towing of boats back from France.   I took a decision however, that because of the different attitudes to this behaviour by previous senior officers now retired, and where officers might have had no corrupt intent, they should be given the opportunity to reveal such transgressions without fear of penalty. Accordingly, DI Alan Aubert, Head of PSD, sent out an e mail to all personnel requesting that any person who had been in receipt of items such as free holidays, use of his Spanish Villa, or towing services should declare them.  This was sent out on 24th May 2006.  It was followed by the same declaration in force orders on 7th June, and the deadline was set for the 18th June.

45.                        All in all, sixteen or more officers came forward, including one of the officers who was a suspect along with Boschat.  They were all offered immunity from discipline, although not from criminal proceedings.  The officer who was an initial suspect with Boschat made full admissions and gave a statement of his knowledge of other officers’ dealings with Boschat.  There was no evidence of criminal offences in relation to him.  (name edited out) …… did not come forward.

46.                        Officers who had worked with (name edited otu) …… gave statements saying that (name edited out) …… and Boschat had enjoyed a close relationship, with Boschat giving free loan of various vehicles to (name edited out) ……, together with the supply of various services.  They had also exchanged vehicle plates and registrations, some of which were later to be the subject of criminal proceedings as (name edited out)……had checked these on the police systems.  (name edited out)……had bought vehicles off Boschat which had been recovered in the course of their work and joint misuse of the police systems and procedures.

47.                        In an attempt to make the breakdown call out system fairer and to reduce our vulnerability to allegations of corruption, I gave orders that in future all tow companies were to be called out in strict rotation and that it had to be through the Force Control Room.  I then found out that in order to circumvent this instruction, (name edite out) ……was using his mobile phone to call Boschat.  I ordered that this was to cease.

48.                        On a number of occasions we were able to see from billing on (name edited out) ……mobile phone that he had contravened this instruction and had called Boschat to the scene of incidents on his mobile.  This included instances where he did not tell the FCR that there was a need for a tow away, and even occasions where he told lies to the Control Room by stating that no tow truck was called when he had brought Boschat out by means of his mobile phone.  Members of the public gave evidence confirming this.  On occasions he made false entries in police documents to this effect.

49.                        On one occasion (name edited out) …… was recorded telling Boschat to submit “f—ing silly bills.” This was on an evidential audio source.

50.                        A file was submitted to the Attorney General seeking the prosecution of (name edited out) …….and Boschat for Bribery and Corruption. However, the new corruption laws, which would have made a prosecution much easier, were not in place, and no case was brought.  I however, then decided to prosecute (name edited out) …… for a number of less serious offences for which the Attorney General’s authority was not needed.  (name edited out) ……was charged with offences of Misuse of Computers, and was convicted of five such charges in the Magistrates court, including one where he publicly labelled an innocent member of the public as a drink driver in order to try and escape the charge.  A police officer who gave evidence on his behalf but who was forced to retract her evidence in court as “an error” was given words of advice for poor judgement.  (name edited out) …… is now a convicted ex police officer.

51.                        A post script to this is that a female police employee whom (name edited out) …… was having an extra marital affair with pleaded guilty at a Discipline Hearing to carrying out unauthorised and improper checks on the police computers at the request of (name edited out)…….

52.                        Boschat gave evidence on behalf of (name edited out) …… but admitted in the witness box, under oath, that he had asked his friend (name edited out) …… to carry out illegal checks of vehicles on the police computer systems.    A few days later he approached another police officer and made admissions of a similar nature.

53.                        Authority was sought to charge Boschat with inciting a police officer (xxxxxx) to carry out improper checks and disclose information from the police intelligence systems.  This authority was granted by Mr Laurence O’Donnell, a Legal Advisor working at Police Headquarters, although one of the Attorney General’s staff.  Arrangements were made to do so.

54.                        Thirty minutes before Boschat was due to be charged, the Attorney General ordered that he should not be.  It emerged that he had been visited by two politicians who had connections with the case who asked him to stop the charging.  These were Deputy Sarah Ferguson and Deputy Colin Egre.  Both of these politicians were associates of Boschat and both had served in the Honorary Police with him. Both had met with him, Gregory, and other corrupt ex officers frequently and with them had conducted a high profile media campaign to stop the Professional Standards anti corruption enquiries.  Ferguson and Egre have recently publicly admitted their roles in this saga.

55.                        I challenged the Law Officers Department about this turn around and the effect it would have on our efforts to combat corruption. I was told by Laurence O’Donnell that the Attorney General merely wanted to review the evidence and would come back to me in a few days.  I questioned the need for the AG to take this unusual step when one of his most senior lawyers had already given authority to charge.  The days turned into weeks without word from the Attorney General.

56.                        Several weeks later, at the beginning of March 2008 I e-mailed Laurence O’Donnell and asked him what the current situation was with the AG’s considerations in respect of Boschat.  I know that Laurence immediately forwarded my e mail to the AG.  I did not even receive an acknowledgement.

57.                        On Saturday -29th March 2008 I sent another e mail to Laurence O’Donnell in which I told him that I had received a query from the Guernsey Press about Boschat.  I told Laurence that the media were asking about the charges against Boschat and the fact that politicians had intervened in his charging.  I said that I had confirmed that he had admitted under oath in open court that he had instigated a search of police systems by a convicted cop and that we had the transcript.  I confirmed that following advice from the Law Officers we were within a short time of charging him.  I told Laurence that I had confirmed to the media that Boschat was not charged on the instructions of the Attorney General and that this followed a visit from two politicians who were close to Boschat.  I confirmed that the AG had not been back to us.  I told Laurence that the media were preparing a story and were linking it to the allegations of interference with police operations.  I told him I felt I had no choice but to confirm what I did or I would have been misleading them.

58.                        On the morning of Monday 31st March 2008 I received instructions from Laurence O’Donnell that the AG had given us the authority to charge Boschat.  At a meeting with the AG in the presence of my Chief Officer, I asked the AG why he had not got back to us until the media intervened.  He replied, “I forgot about it.”  From charge until August 2008, Boschat was granted a number of adjournments at court for rather unusual and surprising reasons.  As widely predicted, a few days after I left the island on retirement all charges were dropped against him and he was awarded costs.

59.                        During this enquiry, Boschat wrote dozens and dozens of abusive letters which he has sent either to me or to others about me. They were sent to the media, to politicians, and included mention of my home and car being firebombed, and many letters circulated widely by him accusing me of lying and of having “a sick and twisted mind.”  Throughout this he continued to be strongly supported by a number of Jersey politicians.  I was accused of breaching his human rights.  He, Gregory, and three other corrupt ex officers made formal complaints which have all so far been found to be vexatious or unsubstantiated.  The one exception is the complaint by Boschat which because of the drawn out legal action has not finished yet.

60.                        It was sometime around this period, that the Chief Officer Graham Power, so alarmed at the overt attempts to control our operational activities, took advice from HMIC, and, I believe, another Chief Constable of one of the off shore islands.

61.                        An interesting postscript to this was the overwhelming support of many involved in that commercial area in Jersey.  One example was a letter from the Managing Director of ‘Bel Royal Motors’ who thanked me for the action I had taken over the accident recovery services.  He said that the system was now much fairer and that because it was now done on customer satisfaction and quality, companies like his could benefit.

62.                        Another one of the group who complained about me and who was active in the meetings with Boschat, Gregory, and the politicians above, is a former police officer and civilian member of staff by the name of Robert Roscouet.  He is a man who was forced to resign from the service for making Racist remarks to a Portuguese police officer, having already had a record of inappropriate comments to colleagues.  At the time this occurred I was Head of Operations and had no part whatsoever in the discipline proceedings which followed.  These were dealt with by my predecessor.  The only connection that I had to this case came about because the detective officer who had the courage to report him had his property vandalized in the CID office.  I, together with the then Superintendent Pearson, gathered the whole of the CID together and warned them that if there was one more incident of this nature we would send every one of them back to uniform and rebuild the CID from scratch.  Other than that I had only one further connection with this man. This was when he went to the Jersey Evening Post at the time when Boschat and Gregory, together with Deputies Ferguson and Egre were trying to drum up publicity for their malicious complaints.  Roscouet, for some bizarre reason told the JEP that I was involved in his “unjustified sacking.”  He then handed over the whole file of his case to the newspaper, including, inadvertently I presume, the record of his previous discipline matters which contained details of his previous inappropriate behaviour.  I think that I issued a press statement of a fairly bland nature which drew attention to the fact that he himself had delivered documents describing his record of racist behaviour to the press.  Other than this, I was not involved with in any way with the case of Roscouet.

63.                        Although I will cover the Abuse enquiry in detail below, it is worth noting that shortly after we went public with it, the sister of Roy Boschat sent letters and e mails to most of the news desks of British newspapers rubbishing the investigation and trying to smear me, stating that I was “guilty of abuse.”

Why Jersey has a Housing Crisis.

June 17th, 2011

The simple reason Jersey has a Housing crisis is because of greed, greedy property developers, greedy wealthy people, who extend their properties but do not want anyone else to live near them with a ‘not in my back yard attitude’.

A government with majority elitist financially motivated voters, who could not care less about the normal locally qualified working people of the island and are only interested in the financial sector and those working within it. They do not care or take into account the person in the street on an average wage, not the average of islanders over all because this takes into account and heavily sides by percentage with white collar financial workers. I mean the real working people not those working in banks and finance centres, but people such as shop assistants, waiters/waitresses, delivery drivers, stable hands, porters and many other jobs that only pay bare minimum wages, that in reality are what I consider to be the average wage earners of the island, and they are simply not being represented properly by their states Members when it comes to affordable Housing or in a lot of other things I can think of for that matter.

Living without the right to protect your pets or livestock in Jersey Channel Islands is not right in anyone’s book. Not being allowed to put a small low level environmentally echo friendly property on my non agricultural land in Jersey left me and still leaves me  in this position.

It has also meant that for over 30 years our having to pay rent for a social housing property, which could have gone to another family in need of a roof over their heads, I am not alone and many others have suffered this fate at the hands of our Planning Department, had I and others in similar situations with rough non agricultural basically waist land been allowed to self build it would in my opinion helped ease the housing crisis we have today, it may well also have saved a lot of the green land that has been passed in the countryside for housing for big building developers or huge extension’s and massive rebuilds passed for wealthy property owners.

Want proof: Click here:

It appears that the Planning Department only ignore its own planning rules and regulations when it has been on behalf of the wealthy and big building development companies, and this is what has caused the present housing crisis in the islands and its totally unequal and imbalanced outcome on the housing market. One States Member from the Planning Department even said that he could not turn down applications from big building developers because if the Planning Department did then the big building developers would leave the island.

My reaction to this was and is “Let them go, they have not and do not produce what any normal working person would call affordable housing or for that matter properties appropriate for the needs of local working families.”

What people in the island need and want is affordable family homes, not shoe box flats, which in the opinion of most where not built with local residents in mind, but for incomers working in the financial sector, and will inevitably (as history in general shows us) turn into ghettos at some point in the future (That we now have an excess of). The majority of local residents for example hate the horrible carbuncles that have been built on the waterfront and elsewhere in the island.

Beautiful buildings have been knocked down and replaced with disgusting out of character for the island supposed luxury flats or apartments such as the West Park Pavilion which in the opinion of many should have been protected as Nation Heritage.

However, there is only one real way in which to get out of the present housing crisis, and that is to stop the rot now! Although there is a sector of the islands population who do not care about this, who would be quite happy to see anyone who is not wealthy or of financial gain to the island get on the next boat out, who do not care about the rape of Jersey or the lifestyle of working people in the island, and do not care if it becomes like Japan, everyone crushed out who does not fit their greedy need for pure financial gain. These are of course people who when the island becomes too cramped and uncomfortable to live in (because it will cause of course untold crime in the future), who will probably be able to keep a property to retain their residence in the island gated and well securitised, while living  off island a lot of the time.

We need politicians who actually represent everyone in the island, who can see past the end of their noses and serve all sectors of those who have voted them into power and realise that they can be voted out, some people are getting close to revolt in the island, people have had enough of it.

Politicians should carefully consider what stand they are going to take on Tuesday 22nd of June’s debate on the draft island plan, another fiasco of this plan only being upheld against the less well heeled people in the island causing yet more hardship and encompassing making the housing crisis worse than ever, while the wealthy and big building developers will continue, be allowed to find and use loopholes in the plan to continue raping the island.

Here are a few ideas to stop the housing crisis. Stop refusing to let local residents have planning permission to self build, trying to make them buy unaffordable unsuitable flats or properties. Allow the property prices in Jersey to find their own level, by not artificially keeping them high by allowing crazy numbers of people into the island (as this only pushes local people out of the market). Drop the States rents to a level that would allow people to actually save a deposit that would enable them to get on the property ladder, up the amount of savings allowed to those living in a States Housing property, because right now this would not even equal 10% of what they would need for a deposit, take into account that for many shared equity schemes with the housing department just equals a rip off.

The Housing department has in the past virtually given away States properties to Housing Trusts on top of giving them allowances to do them up, plus still giving rent rebate on these homes which charge higher rents than the States own social housing properties.  If they had allowed people to buy their homes for the prices they more or less gave them away to Housing Trusts for, had not given an allowance for people to do them up with, there would be a lot more people now owning their own homes, and the States would not only have saved a fortune in rent rebates, but to some degree have avoided the present Housing crisis.

Big building Developers have been allowed to have their workers living in static homes on site, yet the locals are not allowed to live in a mobile home or static home, even when they are trying to save up to buy a home or build one, inequalities like this should be looked into and put right! What is good for the gander should be good for the goose or visa versa!

I was disgusted when an ex neighbour told me how much they had been offered their home at St Peters Arsenal for. I found it totally outrageous as I had spoken to a man representing a housing trust who came to value the properties for the trust a couple of years before, who told me that the Trust had been offered the properties at £75000 each irrespective of if they had two three or four bedrooms (not including the granite heritage protected section), the trust turned the offer down as the properties were considered by them as too substandard.

What the States consider affordable is laughable; they need to re-consider just what the word affordable actually means as it actually does mean ‘within your means’, taking into account the cost of living in Jersey, a working mans wage, the lack of cost of living wage rises, and the current recession.

I would love to take certain States Members, give them only a working persons basic wage, make them live a year on it in a sub-standard Housing property, it would make them scream like a stuffed pig while living from hand to mouth robbing Peter to pay Paul, but they might then start to understand what it is really like to live in this rip-off island, where too many people have lost all hope of a better life and bettering themselves, let alone buy a property.

Who amongst our States Members actually has the balls to do the right thing, not many I regret to say in my opinion. Will any of them prove me wrong? I somehow doubt it. They all need their heads banging together and learn to work together instead of against each other, compromise when needs be, but never let down those who have voted them into power, keep your word and be honest if only with yourself.

Some might think by reading this that I am against the wealthy in the island, wrong, I am after all a tax exiles daughter, I have lived in all walks of life here, and I can understand the problems and views of them all. This actually puts me in a rather unique position, I am able to converse and debate with anyone without bias and it is one of the reasons I stood for election in 1999, because I knew I could make a difference. I hate to see Jersey and its real way of life destroyed before my eyes by people who just refuse to see the truth before them, seeing things only from one projection then coming to logger heads with each other instead of looking for the real alternatives to the problems that face them.
